This old-school Holiday Pretzel Mix is one that everyone looks forward to year after year. Mini pretzel sticks and mixed nuts tossed in seasoned butter made with Worcestershire, Dijon, garlic, pepper, and cayenne. This mix is the yummiest. Each salty pretzel is perfectly seasoned, buttery, crunchy, and spicy. Serve these at your next party, or package them up for gifting!

This is the only time of year I ever make food like this, but thatโ€™s what makes these holiday recipes feel so special. We donโ€™t make these recipes year round. So when the time comes to cook and bake our favorite holiday recipes, everyone is most excited!!

I love holiday traditions! Growing up in the Midwest, Chex Mix was very big around the holidays. If your family didnโ€™t make Check Mix, theyโ€™d make some kind of salty pretzel or maybe both!

My parents always have a house full of people. The second my family starts piling in, they’re looking for the snacks. This is the one time of year I’m constantly making recipes to snack on before dinner.

We’ve always made my mom’s Chex mix on Christmas Eve, but for the pastย few years, I started making these salty pretzels with a kick. Weโ€™ve all fallen in love with this retro-styleย recipe. Once you start snacking, you canโ€™t stop!

This is a great recipe to make and gift as well. Teachers, friends, and coworkers will all adore these pretzels!

Steps

Step 1: arrange the pretzels and nuts

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. The parchment is more for easier clean up than anything else. You can decide to use it or not!

Then, spread a bag of pretzels out over the pan. Add a handful of mixed nuts. My nuts are roasted and salted.

Step 2: make the butter sauce

Mix the melted butter with Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, lemon pepper seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne, and some black pepper.

Pour the butter sauce over the pretzels and nuts. Toss the pretzels for a good 2-3 minutes, making sure the butter sauce coats every pretzel!

Step 3: bake

All that’s left to do now is bake! Low and slow for about 30-40 minutes. I like some of my pretzels a little more toasty and some to be done just right!

For even cooking, toss the mix 2 to 3 times throughout baking.

Enjoy!

My favorite way to serve these is family-style. Everyone begins to shuffle in around 4 or 5 pm, looking for appetizers and a before-dinner drink. It really wouldnโ€™t be the holidays without these pretzels, a great cheese board (times 10 because I make them every night), and a festive drink!

Another way to serve these is to gift them. Package them in a cookie tin or find a cute holiday food bag. These are great hostess gifts, teacher gifts, or gifts for friends and family! You can even ship them!

I’m super excited to share this recipe with you all! I hope you love the pretzels as much as we do!

  1. Usually have great success with your recipes. I checked these after about 15 minutes and they were already burning and past done. Would suggest to others to try a lower temp (more in the 250 range to toast) and much less cook time! Happy Holidays!

    1. Hi Lindsay,
Thanks so much for trying this recipe and so many others! So sorry this cooked so quickly for you, I hope it still tasted okay. Happy New Year! xx

    1. Hi Whitney,
I would go with unsalted just so you don’t have too much salt happening:) I hope you love this recipe! xT

  2. What do you suggest if we donโ€™t have lemon pepper seasoning? Can find any at my local stores in Ontario ๐Ÿ™
    Thanks

  3. These were so good. I took them to my work place and everyone said they were so good. Could I make some more. Better than chex mix.

    1. Hey Gail,
Fantastic!! Iโ€™m so glad to hear this recipe turned out nicely for you, thanks a bunch for making it! Have the best week!๐ŸŽ„โ˜ƒ๏ธ xT

    1. Hi Stephanie,
I would suggest soy sauce, but I don’t think you can use that either….how about coconut aminos? That would work nicely! Let me know if I can help in any other way! xx

    2. โ€œFrenchโ€™sโ€ Worcestershire is gluten freeโ€ฆ.made in Canada but amazon maybe sells? We buy it for our grandson. Hope this helps!

    3. The most popular Worcestershire โ€œLea and Perrinsโ€ is GF, Iโ€™m celiac and have been using it for years!

  4. Hmmmmm salted nuts, salted pretzels, and salted butter. Maybe this is finally the recipe where you don’t need to use the salted butter you always insist on……just a thought.
